New Year’s Resolution: Time Management

It’s as boring a new year’s resolution as it gets:  manage my time better.  Wah wah wah.

But it’s got to happen this year. {Yes, I know that was improper English.} Here’s a recent {and true} episode example:

Adrianne’s decides she should do a load of laundry. Walks upstairs to get dirty clothes.  Spots 3 water glasses on nightstand and decides they need to come downstairs. Picks up water glasses.  Notices there is water left in one. Dumps water in overly dry house plant.  Remembers she needs to drop off Gap returns at UPS tomorrow and, knowing she’ll forget, starts making a list on the sticky notes in nightstand.  Sees the Pottery Barn catalog on nightstand and wonders what media storage furniture they have that might work downstairs.  Realizes she can’t make an educated decision about furniture if she hasn’t measured the wall on either side of the fireplace.  Grabs the water glasses and goes downstairs to get the measuring tape in the laundry room … oh, nuts.

So no more multi-tasking.  I think that’s the root of the problem.  Four browser windows open at once does not equal more accomplished.  I need to focus on accomplishing the task at hand, then move on to the next item.

Side note:  I’m not happy with my 2010 Moleskine agenda so far. I bought the short, fat day planner and I should have gone with the full-size skinny.

Side side note:  I really like typing “2010.”  Much better than 2009.

What about you?  Anything on the resolution list?
